The aim of puppy school is to help create a sociable puppy that is able to cope with a variety of life situations

Puppy school isn’t just about basic training, but instead involves a variety of subjects to educate you as the owner on how to provide your puppy with instruction, control and care that you can utilise in your puppy’s younger years and beyond!

The Puppy School classes will cover a range of topics including:

  • Socialisation
  • Problem solving
  • Nutrition
  • Toilet training
  • Basic command training
  • Behaviour problems
  • Lead training

Why is puppy socialisation so important?

Studies have shown that a puppy’s experiences in the first 3 months of its life strongly influence what kind of furry companion he or she will grow to be. Therefore early socialisation, or lack of, is essential for your puppy’s lifelong behaviour.

At JSVC we believe in positive reinforcement training and use these methods throughout puppy school.

Positive based training and socialisation

  • Helps to make a personal bond between you and your pet
  • Makes you pup more comfortable to a wider variety of situations
  • Makes them less likely to be fearful or aggressive when faced with something new
  • Makes happier and more relaxed puppy – this in turn makes a happier and more relaxed owner!

Puppy School is held in the reception area of the clinic every Wednesday evening from 7:15-8:15pm by one of our qualified Veterinary Nurses. This is a 4 week course. Please call the clinic if you are interested in joining Puppy School at JSVC.
